Sunbeam Alpine Rear Dampers

Hi, I am a little confused - long story short I just changed the rear dampers on my Alpine. I believe the dampers I removed to be original. On the top of the damper there was a concave cup washer bonded to the damper. This butted against the body. Above the body there was a removable cup washer then...

Sunbeam Alpine Electric Fan

Hi, I am thinking of adding an electric fan to my Sunbeam Alpine. A Kenlowe kit is available, but they are serious money for what they are, and I am tight! (I was quoted 180)... Does any one else have any experience with fitting other cheaper after market variants, or perhaps the cheaper units avail...

Re: Non starting MGB

Hi, Great that you tracked it. I agree with the suggestion to go for electronic ignition respective! I fitted one to the Sunbeam Alpine and have not looked back since; if you use it with Lucas Sports Coil (gold in colour) the spark is extremely strong. One advantage is that the electronic ignition t...

Heater Channels Beetle 1968

Hi, I have a 1968 beetle which I had the intention of doing it up for my daughter expecting little work.... You know what comes next... Needless to say its worse than I had expected. The panels where the bumpers hang on are questionable (=knackered), and so should be replaced and there are various o...

Re: Sunbeam Alpine with Oil filler cap blow-back.

Thanks. I have the free breathing variant with Holbay engine and twin Webber 40 DCOE carbs and no air filters. I have yet to get the car booked in for the MOT, but have been running it during regular maintenance bouts. Have added a teaspoon of Red-X to each pot, and fuel, and slowly but surely it se...

Re: Sunbeam Alpine with Oil filler cap blow-back.

Thanks Pavel - I had done the dry compression test. I will also go back and retest with the wet Method - funnily enough I was just thinking today I should try that; if nothing else just to gain some information on the general internal condition.

Cheers,
Andy

Re: Sunbeam Alpine with Oil filler cap blow-back.

Thanks for the suggestions - I will treat it to some Red X and give it a bit of a thrash and get the cobwebs blown away.

Cheers!
