Re: Australian Classics
If you really want to see some weird stuff, look at the BL products like the Leyland P76, the Austin Tasman, the Austin 1800 Ute, Marina six cylinder and the Morris Nomad. The P76 wasn't that weird. It was just a large sedan with 2.6 L6 or 4.4 V8 engines. I remember its massive boot (a 44-gallon dr...

Re: British world cars
It wasn't so much the power (there isn't a lot as you say) but the torque.
In effect, it was a two-speed manual, with an extra low crawler ratio for very steep hills.

Re: British world cars
They tended to be unpleasant colours like that if my memory serves me correctly.

Re: British world cars
The Manchester man rings a bell, yes. I wonder if he has a Marina Six, which is my personal favourite. I drove one in New Zealand once. It had the 2.6 litre straight-six from the cheaper versions of the P76 and a three-speed floor-change manual. It had so much torque that gears were almost superfluo...

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
Two classic Maidstone & District buses in my village today. I couldn't tell you what they were, but guessing the second, with a 1968 G-suffix plate, was a Leyland of some sort.

Re: British world cars
If this Kimberley is located in East Northumberland, it begs the question of how many other of these 'British World Cars' are knocking about here. I know there are a good number of Leyland P76's, for example, all fitted with the 4.4 litre version of the Rover V8. What about the Marina 6 or the Corti...

Regarding carpets, the carpet fit in my six-month-old Clio isn't that good either. It's not just classic cars.

Re: Leyland Princess Resto
It is wonderful to see these cars being preserved. I had a university friend who drove a black one in New Zealand. There, there was a special black or silver edition called the Princess R with the two-litre engine and manual or automatic transmission. This particular one was automatic and I remember...

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?
Great pictures. I love the Rover 3500.
On today's afternoon walk, I saw a souped-up Hillman Imp making a very classic-sounding noise as it jostled with a Nissan Juke and some other nondescript modern.
I forgot my camera again, though one day soon I will remember it.

Great cars all, but my favourite has to be the red Princess Six.
