VW Golf MK2 trim mystery
Hello, I've finally got round to putting my Golf back together(well contemplating it)but a couple of items of trim have got me flumoxed. They were in the box with some dashboard pieces, and one had a pot with a label 'front carpet'stuck to it.This may be coincidence or good planning on my part.Haha.Bu...

Hello.
Does anyone know where I can get a steering column boot(from the bulkhead to steering rack )for a Mk2 Golf,RHD, NonPAS ?
They don't seem to be available anymore and the PAS ones and LHD don't fit.Or alternatives?

Quiet compressors
Hello, are belt driven compressors quieter than direct drive and can anyone recommend a quiet one which won't break the bank? I currently have a 50lt Wolfair direct drive compressor which is rated at 97db and that is too loud for my liking.I read a review of a 90lt Wolfair belt driven compressor in ...

Re: valve clearances using 1.5 rockers
Thanks folks.Food for thought. The idle and power are ok.I had a fiddle using different clearances which didn't show much improvement-always the 7&8 end being noiseiest so I left it at .018 and remind myself it's 43 year old Moggy! When the weather improves I will investigate further and do a comparis...

Re: valve clearances using 1.5 rockers
well,I've just adjusted them to 17 thou in a bid to quieten them up and it made not a lot of difference to the clatter! So,thought I  ,the engine is hot so if I close up the gaps between rocker tips and pushrods that should result in some peace and quiet which it did.Hooray!Only thing is the ol...

Re: Introductions
Hello Terry, I've got a modified Moggy that I've just got back on the road after 3 years, and a Mk2 Golf in my garage in pieces .I started out just respraying the chips in the paintwork and it seems to have grown into an all out resto job! Once the Golf is done(Ha)I will strip the Moggy down and give...

Eu proposals to outlaw modified cars
Could I urge everyone to visit the association of car enthusiasts website(www.the-ace.org.uk/armegddon/)and read what they have to say about the latest proposal the EU are trying to sneak into law. This will affect everyone with an interest in old cars and bikes. Not just those fitting V8 engine in Mi...

Re: WINSU carb download
Well I paid my twenty quid and have to say that the needle suggested is the best I've had since I started tuning up the Moggie many moons ago ,and that has included a couple of rolling road sessions. No more flat spots and the lowest, smoothest idle speed I've ever experienced in the old girl!So I'd r...
