Terry,
My P38 grille was originally the same grey colour as the bumpers AFIK. I had an aerosol of vinyl compatible paint mixed to match the bumpers and painted the grille with that. The result looks like new! The door handles had faded likewise so I have used the same on those.

OK, my recollection was a few years out but otherwise not too far of the mark.
That blog is a good find John. Kind of sad that there are just none left!

Re: What new car suggestions... not easy!
I remember last time we saw Dacia in the UK. Renault 12 called the Denem and the Duster which was presumably also Renault bits but not bad looking as an entry level 4X4 in a boxy sort of way. I think the concessionaire went bust and the remnants of the stock was sold off at BCA. I'm thinking late 70...

For me there'd be no contest..... Volvo 245 (plus a small caravan or trailer tent). Iconic design, plenty of room, easy to maintain and get reliable enough for a long jaunt. Still a few available for reasonable prices and all the classic cred you could want, to the extent that you can surely sell fo...

AIRC the base Dolomite 1300 (Also available as a 1500) had the flat Toledo dash, a HUGE steering wheel and thinner seats with square headlights. Essentially a Toledo with the extended Dolomite back end. No HL version in 1300 but the 1500HL had all the add-on trim options in the rest of the Dolmite r...

Coleford? Yes! Easter Monday and a great day out with reasonable weather too. We took the F350 truck. I will 'attempt' to post a pic or two by the weekend!

Re: The black primer on new panels
Now I always thought..... If it softens with Celly thinners then it has to come off otherwise de-grease it, flat it and prime. Never had any problem with that rule but I don't do so much panel work these days.

Re: Name the Classic?
I think the one in the original pic is a UK spec Ford Model Y around 1930.
The American 'hot rod' ones in the other pics are quite a bit bigger. Check out the width of the grille!
