:D Morning, sorry for late reply to problems, have been on hols.Discovered fault, bracket holding fuel pump to body was loose,causing pump to move about and I presume causing terminal to earth, especially when on a slope, but all ok now running well(till the next time) Thanks to all for the suggesti...

Thanks again, yes garage checked wiring and fitted line fuse to circuit on o/d because there was not one apparently, also "heat tubed" the wiring up to switch,will try suggestion of suppliers, sorry again for confusion, I know all about"climate change" in my case it is "age" change.

Hi again, yes had wiring checked (by garage) when wiring was renewed after burn out! They also checked switch.One switch was purchased on e-bay, but can`t remember who supplied it .The other was from MGB Hive (cash refunded very quickly).

Useless(new) Spare parts
Useless spare parts. Can anyone suggest a reliable supplier for an o/d switch(top of gear lever) for my MGB, have tried two from different sources and both faulty.Cannot see one on MGOC.

speaking of dud parts any one suggest a reliable source for an o/d switch(top of gear handle) for my MGB. Had two from different sources and both duds.

Thanks guys for all the info. lot to think about.I have changed the coil(non ballasted type)made no difference.Will check all ignition comp. and see what happens.

Mis -firing MGB GT (been here before!)
My 1968 MGB GT has been acting up, starts well, runs for 5- 10 minutes well, then mis-fires and rev counter starts dancing and ammeter goes to discharge, checked alternator and earths sounds like short somewhere but where? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks................ Ron

Thanks Rich, sorry for late replies, on hols.Yes the main problem seems to stem from o/d switch.Haveisolated the cables running from there, checked loom as much as posts, may now seek professional help, as electrics still haywire!
