Thanks for the input guys.
I'll have to use the silicone option as I don't have access to a belt sander and the Rootes manifold has two gaskets as standard which doesn't resolve the problem.

Re: Exhaust manifold leak
Hi John, thanks for the ultra quick reply.
My problem is that I live in a rural area France and the only mechanical expertise locally seems to that of welding lumps of scrap onto agricultural vehicles to give them another 50 years of life.I'm looking for a product that I can buy on line.

Re: noisy air filter
K & N now fitted, still a little induction noise but much less than before. The carb is better tuned, tickover and acceleration are improved.Money well spent.

Re: noisy air filter
Hi Kev,
The Speedograph is what I have fitted and I also am having difficulty getting the carb tuning sorted ,so I'll definitely be sorting a K & N type.

noisy air filter
I have a Weber 28/36 carb on my Rootes 1725 engine and fitted it with a flat chrome mesh/foam type air filter and find that it's very noisy (sucking air noise).I assume that it's typical of this type of filter but before I go to the expense of replacing it with maybe a KN type does anyone have any s...

Re: Brake pedal solid
Thanks for that Mike,it makes me feel better.
I have now given the Rapier a proper run on a private drive and the brakes are brilliant, stops on a tanner. It's now time to get it in for its CT (MOT) and I can get some road kms in.

Re: Brake pedal solid
Hi all, Just been reviewing my post and thought I should update all those who took the trouble to offer help. It's sorted now and must admit to a stupid oversight  When I changed the servo I fitted the pipes from the master cylinder and that to the system I connected them what I thought was th...

Re: Brake pedal solid
Hi again, I'll have a look at the various hoses and cylinders but would be surprised if they are the problem as they are all new and were working when the system was bled initially and had a pedal of sorts. I've sent an email to JL Spares of Rochdale who supplied the servo to see if they have any su...
