Re: Wheeler Dealers

I'm a Wheeler Dealers addict and watch all the old ones on Shed as well as a collection I've recorded. The only mildly irritating bits for me are the way they repeat stuff at the start of each segment of the programme, and the idea that they've made £x profit after Edd (and Paul) have put in hundred...

Re: Originality and registrations

What do we think of this then, chaps? It's on sale at Hurst Park, and you'll see what I mean as the word "original" is definitely used as a selling point...but it isn't really, is it? MERCEDES-BENZ 220SE CONVERTIBLE 1964. Medium blue with a black soft-top, new grey hide interior and grey hide hood c...

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?

I had to go to our local health centre in town, situated in a one-way system of narrow streets and terraced houses. I was amazed to see a beautiful A40 Somerset, in gleaming black, parked in front of one of the houses. It certainly stood out from the glumly indistinguishable Euroblands all around, a...

Re: March Issue

Yes, time was when Ladas were very common, and a couple of my colleagues ran them happily. Had the best toolkit ever with a stirrup pump if I remember aright.

Also had a colleague with an FSO 125P, and that was a whole different ball game. :D

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?

I just saw a white MGB GT on Michael Portillo's railway programme (He seems to come over better as a presenter than he ever did as an MP). I only started watching it because he went to the Dean Forest Railway ( http://www.deanforestrailway.co.uk/ ) during one episode. I know what you mean - dead sm...

Re: Originality and registrations

Really it all boils down to what the word means and how important it is to you to use the word. Once something has been restored, that's what it is: "restored", but what does it matter? Personally I'd enjoy looking at any old cars that have been brought back to their best and kept alive for future g...

Re: Originality and registrations

How many times can something be "original", Pete? My interpretation would be "unaltered since its first manufacture" but as I say it's not a huge issue for me personally. :D

Re: Originality and registrations

This is an interesting one. Mr Rusty's dealt with the more serious legal issues. but I often read an ad and smile when a car is described as "original" when it's undergone a refurb to various areas. I suppose originality is a big issue for some, but personally I'm just glad to have cars that go, sto...

You have to wonder how destroying a few qualifies as a "celebration"!

Re: Noggin - Princess 2200 HLS Auto for sale

I do not accept that seven out of every ten cars is a credible failure rate and have seen nothing in the contemporary media or later accounts to substantiate the claim, hence my rhetorical musing on the true percentage. However, I'm not going to divert attention from this very desirable classic by p...
