Re: Ropey Jensen for sale

The full story of this car was on the Facebook page, the ex-owner had posted some other pics which have since been removed for some reason..... apparently it sat in front of his house for years and years, gradually decaying, until it was hit by an overturned out of control horse box, the FB pics hav...

Re: Will classics ever become affordable again?

Will classics ever be affordable again? Of course they will! They always have been! Just buy them when they're bangers and wait.......Now where's all those minis I bought for peanuts and thrashed and scrapped in 80's? Remember, in the sixties the scrapyards were full of Austin Sevens, Morris 8's, et...

Re: safety goggles..

I had a trip to casualty for that as well a few months back....i normally wear all the gear, the one time I couldn't be bothered as if was only a quick job I ended up with a small sliver of steel in my eye, I looked like a terminator.....after it was pulled out there was a small pit on the iris for ...

Re: ANyone know where to buy car door deadlocks?

http://www.canleyclassics.com/body-fitt ... net-locks/...you could easily adapt a pair of Triumph bonnet locks, they work on the same principle. You'd maybe need to make custom arms for them,

Re: Incoming MIG welder query

The problem with welding at home isn't so much a matter of practice, which is always done under ideal conditions- clean new steel, standing up, lots of room, it's the circumstances many of us work in.....outdoors, on your back underneath or head inside a wheelarch, not really enough room, wind blowi...

Re: Incoming MIG welder query

I have a Clarke 135te...it does the job and is reliable, I have two observations on it after a few years of use, one, that extension handle thing is useless, take it off and put it somewhere else, and two, it could do with another setting between the two lower range settings, its essentially it has ...

Re: MGB struggles on hills

You said the garage 'reset the timing' why did they do that? If it was running OK before, but a bit rich, the timing would be the last thing I'd be fiddling with because there's simply no reason to do so if it hasn't been disturbed since the last mot. I'd start there, either check it with a strobe, ...

Re: Electronic ignition for an MGB.

Stick with the points unless you have a pressing reason not to...I fitted in of those cheapo britpart units to the Metro, just to make servicing a bit easier- its either rad moved aside or distributor completely out to check/clean the points properly. The thing was rubbish, it worked on for a few mo...

Re: EGR to blank off or not?

How does she drive it? I ask because I checked the egr on Mrs Rusty's diesel, it's done getting on for 200k now, but it turned out it was clean as a whistle. Most of her miles are motorway/fast A road however. I believe that when they do give trouble, it's nearly always on cars that are pootled arou...
