Re: Whoops

One of our near neighbours works for the local Jaguar dealers and brings various new cars home (possibly demonstrators). I think it was an XF last weekend. His neighbour said the bloke had set off in the snow at less than walking pace to go down the slight hill to the "main" road. After I talked to ...

Re: Whoops

^^^ WHS ^^^ Apart from the fact that our 1 1/2" of snow has all but disappeared now! One small mercy: it wasn't you that had the mishap. I fear 4x4s are too top heavy for icy conditions: I've often been stuck behind them as they slither all over the place where I could easily get an extra 20MPH (on ...

Re: Forum maintainance

I can see the wheel with Firefox on the two machines I use regularly.

Mind you, I can't order from a certain model railway shop with Firefox, so all isn't great: the only machine with IE has an old version that "needs" to be upgraded as MS support will end soon!

Re: renault scandal

It's funny how one company's misdoings can throw the shareholders in a whole industry into panic! I don't say anyone is innocent or guilty, but I fear that some automatically think the worst. Watch out for other car manufacturers' share prices falling after someone announces they are investigating t...

I thought IT-types prefer Hob-Nobs (with or without chocolate). Not sure about Rich though; perhaps a builder in France is stuck with Marie biscuits?

Re: Forum maintainance

Well done in getting things working properly. A I right in thinking things are a little clearer and "brighter" with the new site? I know the logo is a little "fuzzy" at the moment, but things too look better somehow. I think Rich must have been really bored yesterday - it's been taking ages to get o...

Re: Material for door card re-manufacture

I must admit, I'd use foamex if I was doing the job. We used lots of it when I worked in the last school and, if kids can produce neat work with it, most of us can too! It's much easier to cut than wood - score one side with a craft knife and bend it, preferably over a straight edge (I used the saw ...

Re: new mini

Is this going to end up a "what is a classic" thread? There are many 20+ cars that I would say aren't classics and, should I list some here, I would get flamed! Who'd have said a Metro or a Fiesta would be desirable in twenty years' time when they were in production? There again, I'm not dewy-eyed o...

Re: severe weather

My sympathies go to those who have been affected by the flooding. While I live "near" Carlisle, I live on a hill and am far enough downstream not to be in any danger, though the river has been over the road rather more often than usual and is quite full this morning (and the high tide is after midda...
