Re: clutch problem rootes
Hi Maybe your "new" master cylinder is just bypassing fluid rather than pumping - it has been known for new cylinders to be wrongly assembled at manufacture or the item has been on the shelf too long and the seals have perished. I would give the clutch pedal a few pumps with the bleed screw open and...

Re: Misfire, then dead, mg b
Very surprised to hear that JPB, although speak as you find, as they say. Paul ( the proprietor) did say that there were some counterfeit "red Rotors" out there when I ordered mine about 3 months ago. He has resorted to marking with an embossed DD, internally, at the top of the mounting to different...

Re: Misfire, then dead, mg b
Your fault is almost identical to the situation experienced on my 6 cyl Princess, i.e. no spark when hot. I totally agree with the previous posts; give the Distributor Doctor a call, chat to him and order a Red Rotor arm and as has been suggested fit a simple cheap "Hall Effect" electronic ignition ...

Re: Fuel Evaporation?
Trampintransit you are right about the insulation blocks for carbs and home made heatshields, I have done both but have only improved the situation not cured it. The dashpots of the twin SU's are still too hot to handle after a run and shutdown so the carb body must be similarly affected. Old style ...

Re: Daimler running rich
I am assuming SU's right? Problem could be worn needles, unleaded is harsher on them apparently, and they erode. You set the mixture OK at idle but as the needles rise in the jet the worn taper allows too much fuel through. You can get new needles at Burlens and they can also advise on the correct n...

Re: the dreaded rotor arm failure
Yup it's made a noticeable improvement to fuel consumption and engine smoothness. I've done about 300 miles since conking out and there has been no faltering, misfires or similar maladies. Incidentally, I have noticed "red" rotor arms for sale on e-bay but I would avoid them; just because they are r...

Re: Fuel Evaporation?
My 6 pot Princess has always suffered from vapour lock when hot and I have taken all of the steps already mentioned which have improved the situation considerably 8-) A comment from a Princess forum member recently was, that according to his research, BP and Esso are the only oil companies NOT addin...

Re: Ignition coil hot
I agree with all the previous comments but would add that coils do run hot anyway. Various measures are taken to insulate the casing including enclosing the coil in an oil filled jacket and they should be sited clear of wiring and engine bay clutter to avoid heat damage to other components. You woul...
