Re: Backfire Causes?
Hello well as above really, bad valve/valve seats, air leak into exhaust, gasket, manifold, joint, weak mixture and something that gets missed quite often Tappet clearances closed up. So before anything else I would check the valve clearances and do a compression check just to see if you have the sta...

Re: Tyres - what does the panel think?
Hi I know it's a radial but how about Uniroyals. Red label. 185 X 60 X 14. In my opinion a jolly good tyre and not that expensive.195's are £26.00 + vat. (I think that 185's are the same price but to be honest I haven't checked.).
Cheers.

Re: Home made Engine Pre-heaters?
Hello , a manufactured one in a radiator hose, it's now 40 years old. Personally there is no way that I would contemplate a home made one for safety reasons.
Many years ago they used to do a small paraffin heater that went under the engine, I haven't seen one for a long time.

Re: Tyres "perished"
If I may pop in a penny worth here. I dont think that it is necessary to spend huge amounts to get good tyres, my heap uses 195 X 60 X 14 and Uniroyals ( red label.) cost £26.00 a time + vat.Thats not trade and simply walk in - buy - walk out prices. Over a 25 year period have only had one nasty and...

Re: Guess the location
As the picture seems to be about 20 X 15 feet and I can see a tiny strip of roof , what am I missing? It's a job to see really.

Re: PM's
Hello John, sorry now I am really confused, which is quite easy. I thought that 'PM' stood for Private Message , this does not work when trying to reply to Martin, it does not work when sending a 'fresh' message IE. not a reply to a message. Martin kindly sent me his personal email address in a PM w...

Re: K seal repair. Any ideas?
Hi well not me personally but my son has a BX 16Valve that blew a head gasket while a long way from home, as a temporary measure used K seal as a 'get you home' measure. He was going to replace the gasket etc. as he has the bits to do it, but time in short supply so thought that he would see how lon...
