Re: Wheeler Dealers TR6
My second car was a 1970 TR6 which I bought in 1982 when I was 18. Haven't times changed? An 18 year old would have no chance of insuring such a beast now! It was an awesome car and the one I always wish I had kept. 150BHP with overdrive in 2nd 3rd & 4th gears. I fitted XJS tyres to the wire wheels ...

Re: VIC Check
They told you it was a write-off. That's what being a write-off means. They might possibly have explained more fully, but they did let you know. Cat C & Cat D have different implications, which is why different markers are applied. You say "That's what being a write-off means" and then "Cat C & Cat...

Re: VIC Check
Not vindictive, simply SOP. I would say if it's SOP it's very sketchy! I have a friend who repairs salvaged cars and has bought many extensively damaged cat 'd' right offs without vic markers and he told me that it was because the insurance company get more for them at the salvage auction without t...

Re: VIC Check
you'll have to take it to a VOSA testing station for them to agree that it's the same car & that it's roadworthy. This will allow the car to be returned to the road legally, but it will be marked on the V5 for future owners to see. It's not a roadworthy check, all they do is check that the numbers ...

VIC Check
Hi, Can anyone offer any advice or experience of the following please? About a year ago someone left their handbrake off in a car park and their car rolled along side mine causing minor damage. It knocked off the door mirror, put a small dent in the door and a minor scrape on the wheel arch. The mir...

Re: BMW Misfire
Thanks guys, I think I've got a code reader somewhere but might need the lead to fit the BMW socket. It makes sense that the new plug could be compensating for a duff coil pack so I've bought a couple on ebay at £3.50 each, got to be worth a shot for that price! Will let you know how i get on. Regar...

BMW Misfire
Hi, Can anyone help me diagnose the source of a misfire on my 1991 E34 520i? It started with a pop through the exhaust and then intermittently missing under load and got progressively worse till it was running very rough all the time. A change of plugs cured the problem for a few weeks and it ran fi...

Re: K seal repair. Any ideas?
Thanks guys, I guess my confusion was where the oil was going. The exhaust was allways clean and only a few spots on the drive. With the amount it was using I would have expected it to be evident somewhere. Maybe water getting into the oil was causing it to burn easier? Still all seems well now and ...
