Re: Bristle-like stuff needed!

Hello John I find it astonishing that I might potentially be answering a question from you - as it has always worked the other way around in the past! Have you explored garage door seals eg on lines of: https://www.screwfix.com/p/diall-brushed-garage-door-draught-excluder-white-1-25m-2-pack/103fr ? ...

Re: Car SOS

There are a few of the later Car SOS projects on display at BMM Gaydon, including a powder blue MGA, AC Aceca, DB6 and Volvo P1800. From my (casual) lookover of these cars the restoration /makeover work looks very worthy, and I would be overwhelmed if my car was attended in that way. More than one h...

Scout /Fox Air Valve /Power Valve /Automatic Air /Power Valve

What do you make of these? I volunteer in a Cotswold motoring museum & toy collection (it might be remiss to advertise the location on this forum.....?). Every time I go there I spot something I haven't noticed before. I have recently been reorganising the counter area of a recreation of the village...

Re: Datsun Bluebird 180B - Nikki carb fault?

YIPPEE - SORTED AT LAST!! I did receive the Meat & Doria service kit from Autodoc (took about a week to arrive from Germany). I was reluctant to open up the carb yet again without expertise or plan, so engaged Central Motors Cheltenham to sort. Recommended to them by an retired /veteran local mechan...

Re: Datsun Bluebird 180B - Nikki carb fault?

Some time has passed, some work /effort but sadly no progress. I confirmed that the float needle valve is closing off fuel supply, and that the fuel height within the float chamber is maintained when engine is running. This Nikki carb has a small glass spy hole with a dot to indicate the float level...

Re: Datsun Bluebird 180B - Nikki carb fault?

Thanks John No further progress, excepting I have located & ordered kits from Japan for washers, seals, gaskets etc. Probably take a week or so to arrive. I am a bit reluctant to strip down the carb and rebuild when the bits come - hoping to find someone (very much) more expert than myself to do thi...

Datsun Bluebird 180B - Nikki carb fault?

The old Datsun has been misbehaving. It is a 1983 Bluebird 180B, 910 estate so with L18S engine, and a Nikki twin choke downdraught carb. It was running really well a couple of weeks ago but had started running rough & lumpy after I refilled with fuel, especially between 2000-3000rpm. I have probabl...

Re: Battery question

I have just disposed of such a battery that was utterly lifeless when I got the old Datsun - the battery was 5 or 6 years old but the car had been standing untouched for almost all of that time. I budgeted for a new battery, but also tried to resurrect the old one. My 4 amp charger wouldn't add any ...

Re: What classic vehicles have you seen?

I recognise that venue - I presume Rare Breeds day @ Haynes Museum back in September. Had to be elsewhere on the day else I would have been on parade with Doris-the-Datsun. Like the Rapier in the background of the Metro shot. I currently volunteer (ie "dust & dither") at BMM aka Gaydon a couple of d...

Re: ANyone know where to buy car door deadlocks?

Security locks used to be retro fitted to cars in 1970's & 80's. If you have a chance have a look a look at a car that was used to carry TV kit or a DER Escort estate - but admittedly a fat chance of finding those to examine now! I had security locks fitted to my MkI Escort back in 1980's - the driv...
