Thanks for all the replies so far. Tempted with the mgb gt v8, especially that v8 rumble, so will try one out for size in the coming weeks. May also look at a 944, but fancied something older, with chrome. Looks like I may not fit in a triumph after all, still it's worth a try. The missus said said...

A little bit of a curve ball....how about either a Porsche 944 - my son is 6'6" and fits fine in my car....or alternatively a Porsche 928...if you can live with the fuel costs.

I looked at getting a 944 a while back and even 8 years ago they were blatantly divisible into two categories - pre-loved and pre-disastered. The prices fetched by the good ones put them firmly out of the hands of all but the collectors, while the prices of the bad ones dropped them into the banger...

I pass one every day. It's been rotting in the same place for the last two or three years.
