Omega Piston Rings

In rebuilding a B-series engine (1950cc) I needed a new set of Omega Piston Rings (for 83.5mm Omega pistons, #3649). I ordered these from www.shengineering.co.uk. However it turns out the oil control rings are too big - I understand that they changed from 3mm to 4mm at some point and mine need the o...

Re: Jaguar XK8

I have never owned one of these, but I understand that they are pretty reliable. I think there are some issues with very early engines, but these were very quickly resolved. The suggestion of the XJS is a good one too :) Edit: a quick search shows too problems with early ones. Cylinder liners and ti...

Tapatalk

I wondered if you had considered using Tapatalk - it's very good for foruming on a phone or other mobile device. Especially from the garage :)
I use it for other forums, and I would selfishly like to use PC in the app.

Classic Restorations

I can recommend Classic Restorations, located just of Junction 13 of the M1. Wonderful service and they do everything from basic servicing to Mille Miglia preparation. They fitted a new subframe to my E-Type, this was completed quickly and reasonably. A bonus was that it returned the engine was bett...

Re: Side indicator lamp identification

I got one as a result of this thread. Thanks. :) Here it is fitted https://forty43three.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/20140409-033508.jpg And here it is on an Alan Jones Williams. Interestingly I came up with this independently (well moving it to the top of the dash in eye line was my idea, it was alr...

Re: Side indicator lamp identification

I don't suppose you have a lot of time monitoring warning lights when racing. Have you thought of fitting a buzzer? We had a lorry damage an engine because the oil light wasn't that visible in low winter sun. We fitted buzzers to most of the fleet and did save 1 engine when an oil filter seal faile...

Re: Is there anyway to trace an old car?

If you have a bit more information, especially chassis number this may help.

The reg. doesn't work, but I'm not sure that field is always updated or works in the search. There is a comment to that effect on the site.

Re: Side indicator lamp identification

Best picture I can find of it on internet, it's in Keke Rosberg Williams. Not the same car I originally saw it in, but you can see where it was positioned. http://www.schuerkamp.de/zope/hoover/racing/historic_f1/images/ls10_williams_cockpit.jpg I'm pretty good at tracking things down, but google and...

Re: Side indicator lamp identification

Thanks all. I'll delve into the detail tomorrow when i have more time. It's not the L734, the screw is the give away. That very expense ouch looks like it. JPB, 903. :) My rationale for generic being harder to find is simply that original parts are more likely to keep being made. Who wants an origin...

Re: Side indicator lamp identification

I fear it is a generic one from that era which will make it hard to find.

I tried a lot of ebay listings. I do realise I am being pedantic! :)
