Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Saloon Restoration

Sooo... it's been about 5 years, I'm sad to say that I haven't really made any progress other than slowly acquiring tools and creating space to help speed up the process when there's time. Marriage, a house and three kids has put this firmly on the back burner! I have found time to build myself a wo...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Saloon Restoration

Thanks, yeah space is at a premium, always moving things and clearing up. I've probably spent half as long doing that as I have on the car! Just pleased I've got somewhere to do it out of the weather though. It must be about 3 years since I first realised some work was going to have to be done on th...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Saloon Restoration

Managed to fit in three days over the Christmas holidays, not a whole heap of progress but still moving forward. Trying to upload from my phone so the photos might have cropped a bit. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8579/16192968895_44a05d3907_b.jpg I've trimmed and adjusted the A post so it's a snug...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Saloon Restoration

Back with a few more photos after 4 days off work. Apologies for the quality, took them last minute on my phone. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8645/15683528150_46eabd76aa_c.jpg I've finally taken the plunge and welding in the offside rear wheel arch... no going back now. seems to fit well and the c...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Saloon Restoration

One thing about the new wings though is that they project about 4 cm less all round than the originals which alters the look of the car, I haven't decided yet if that is a good thing or not!

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration

Also, some photos of questionable quality showing a pair of new old stock rear wings I managed to buy recently! These were too good to miss and I was able to get them after they were bought with new front wings (unobtainable!) And weren't needed. The wings on the car were so far gone there would hav...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration

If you do find your notes, it would be interesting to know more. What you've said paints an interesting picture though and has already sparked a little more interest in it for me :) I look forward to seeing the photos. Hints of the blue are still visible, I expect this time I will strip the paintwor...

Re: Alvis TA14 Mulliners Restoration

I've been mulling over what you mentioned about the two halves of the head gasket, I read it wrong at first and thought you meant two laid one over the top of eachother but then the penny dropped..! The car did indeed still have your two part gasket when I took the head off, I spoke with a club memb...
