Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

Sooo, an update related to the smiths heater. I was losing a little water over time and after all the other mechanical improvements I've done (like the sump seal work), I wanted to get to the bottom of where the water was going. So I borrowed my brothers snap on pressure tester and found 5 issues! 4...

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

I completely agree with the star trek comment. That's probably why I love Elite, been playing it since 1984 and it gets better every decade 😊 The gearbox is more original and I only have to shorten the prop to fit it. In any case, I'll get overdrive in 3rd and 4th. Which is.... ER... useful for a ga...

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

Flipping bangers.. far superior to car sos... ( no nice but bloody annoying tim) any idea when a new series is on ? You know, I've never watched them shows. I just find them all too fake and obvious. I tend to not watch a lot of telly anyway, I have 2 bands that I play in and don't have any spare t...

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

What a gorgeous GSD that is! Did you have to bribe the lovely beast to pose like that, or are they used to being photographed? Liking the lift too, most useful to have and it seems to fit well enough in the space you have for it. Saying that, the roof clearance for the two poster that Will and Gus ...

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

Oh, and I finished the compressor. Striped, painted, new pump, new motor, new connectors, one way valve, 0 pressure valve, starter, turned new switch, 3d printed bottom cover. A 1960 tank still good as new, pressure tested and it is still 6mm thick steel all around. Tested to 250PSI. Now there is no...

Rootes overdrive gearbox

So I'm swapping out my gearbox in Mrs Ings (1965 Singer Gazelle), for an overdrive gearbox I acquired but know nothing about it's history. First thing I did was remove a ton of what seemed like underseal. Some was red in colour some black. It still needs a lot of cleaning but before that I thought I...

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

Recently renovated this very rusty old car lift and have just got it working correctly, (notice blocks of wood for security, don't trust anything). So now looking at changing the rear leaf springs, that'll probably be another post.

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

So I finished the heater renovation, now has; everything painted filled the dents on front of main box and resprayed. Painted inside and out. Stripped everthing down to the last washer Tested the fan, motor draws expected current and works perfect with no bearing play. Refurbished and sealed the val...

Re: Singer Gazelle Heater refresh

Pic of Mrs Ings looking on at me rebuilding the old compressor. I got her pressure tested and the steel is still 6mm thick all over. This old stuff lasts forever, however, someone fitted a small motor/pump. So I've bought a 3hp v twin pump and motor. I hope Mrs Ings realises I will be able to spray ...
