Re: breakdown truck

I'm far too chicken to travel 300 miles, mostly because the cops have been arresting people from inland of here who've been travelling to our beach car parks and letting their dogs crap all over our lovely clean sand. How would they like it if I borrowed an animal and took it to do its business all ...

Re: breakdown truck

Hmm, a Micra with an extra brake pedal in the passenger footwell? Great for stretching out on longer trips..
Shame it's some 300ish miles away, right down there in that Staffordshire or I would at the very least be heading off to see the thing. Once it becomes safe to do so of course..

Re: ford granada mk2

I can't see how the courtesy lamps would go up only with the ignition on, or do they come up as normal without ignition on, and other items that should be supplied from the accessory or ignition switched live terminal of the barrel going off when the courtesy lamps come up? Could you maybe post a vi...

Re: Kia Pride (I think)

Hmm, interesting! Is this the first generation one that came with white wall tyres? Either way they're not exactly thick on the ground just now. As for a value, the good folk at Autoshite, which is HERE , in case you're not on there already, may have a better idea of value, but a Kia Pride, especial...

Re: oil Additive

Please don't be tempted to use a friction modifier, such as Molyslip, in a syncromesh gearbox! If this is for a different application, and not for any component that uses yellow metals in its internals where extreme pressure tribology is potentially damaging, then perhaps a recommendation could be m...

Re: breakdown truck

..Three more years and it's road tax exempt. Oh, but you don't live in the UK, never mind, it probably won't last three years. Eh? Even if the free VED thing is still around when the car is old enough to qualify, it's a mere thirty years of age so there are eleven years between that Micra and free ...

Re: breakdown truck

Hmm, it's certainly an interesting old thing. It's looking rough just now but is a simple device whose gradual fettling and fixing would be far less stressful then carrying on with the van's interior refit, which may yet finish me off. But even the post-covid, four stones lighter version of myself (...

Re: breakdown truck

Hmm, the areas around the rotten bits look pretty soft, :( but as it Started up first time after sitting there for 21 years , it may be worth saving. However, did the ad say that it started the first time after not starting prior to lots of preparation being done, or that they just gave the key a qu...

Rich, I'm always looking for a small engined, two (or three) wheeled easy to fix thing. Have you a specific specimen in mind?

Re: breakdown truck

.. You can't press one for the money, two for the show. True, GHT, but many buyers of Bakelite stuff, whether that be telephones, Smith Sectric clocks or radio sets, only need a classic design for the show, not the go. My only remaining ancient blower has been fitted with Bluetooth technology...
