Re: Annoying whistle, 1992 Toyota HiAce engine..

Solution found! There was a very slight air leak between the air intake grille (four feet up the van body behind the driver's door, marvellous for driving through really deep puddles, or trips down South..) and the surrounding bodywork, the pipework must have been acting like the horn on a mechanica...

Re: Zel's Fleet Blog...Lada, Citroen, Mercedes, Sinclair & AC Model 70

I'm disturbed by the extent to which that thing excites me! I used a similar device throughout much of the 1980s and developed a healthy respect for it, not least because it was the best way to ameliorate disorder involving customers of IM's franchised premises and the more experienced staff...

Re: Real ale

Piston broke... Aye right! I can believe the piston part but the broke part? Nah, no such thing as a poor builder. :P  How about "Old Rusty Outrigger?" It's crunchy and should last 'til the bar closes if you add some chicken wire and filler. "Limited Slip Diff".. One pint of this through you, ...

Re: Annoying whistle, 1992 Toyota HiAce engine..

It's audible enough on the amp & speakers I'm using here. I've covered around 180KM since earlier today and have noticed no change in the pitch or loudness of the noise, I've checked everything that I can think of but can find absolutely nothing that would explain that damned noise. Tomorrow should ...

Annoying whistle, 1992 Toyota HiAce engine..

Turn the treble right up at the 16KHz+ end of the scale if your sound card allows for this sort of thing as not everyone finds Yoda's new funny noise as annoying as I do. I can hear this at idle, as the video will demonstrate, and it's even audible with the engine cover / passenger seat closed, in s...

Re: What would you buy & why?

That's an excellent image, which illustrates perfectly that real style is timeless. Were it not for the modern glazing and the TV aerial on a chimney in the far background, we could be looking at a scene from anywhere during the last 90 odd years. Is that an oil bath chain on the classic bicycle? Wh...

Well I'd buy that. ^^^

Now that is one very practical classic. Don't suppose you fancy swapping the jukebox for a house and a random assortment of motor vehicles? I've had a couple of AMI jukeboxes - of a later period - through my hands in the past, but comparing even the better of these to the Wurlitzer in your ph...

Re: What would you buy & why?

 Mr Sullivan was most likely laughed at when he made that alarmingly accurate prediction. I put it to you that his words are evidence of the existence of time machines in 1953! And yes, Mr Sullivan, we can indeed use our devices to translate either on screen, or via a conversation involving t...

Re: What would you buy & why?

According to some of the words that appear in the link above (thanks, GHT, I don't need rum to get me to sleep now.. ;) ), Modern Diesels are all cleaner than petrol engines and add far less CO2 to the atmosphere. May I just post a screen grab from the UK Government's car "Tax" (VED) site, where eac...
